Miyazaki has intense survivor's guilt about surviving the bombing of Japan (which he only did because of luck and privilage), a lot of years of anger at Japan's imperialism, years of anger over his father helping Japan wage war (he was director if the company that supplied rudders for Japan's warplanes), years of frustrationg with the anime industry, etc etc.
